The Merle Oatman award is being presented in memory of a great man and fine golfer. Merle, who passed away on September 24, 2006, was the dynamic force that initiated the men’s 9 hole golf group at PebbleCreek in 2001. As an inspiration to those around him that were not blessed with his natural talents, and for his contributions to the world we shared with him, the PCM9GA is honored to dedicate this memorial to him.

On Thursday, April 5, 2007, the PCM9GA Club Championship finals were played. This was the second and final day of the championship match and going into the final day there were six members within three strokes of each other for low gross. Led by John Tanino and Robert Gardner at 38, the day promised to be filled with great anticipation as fifty two golfers returned to do battle for one of Pebble Creeks most prized honors of PCM9GA Low Gross and Low Net Champion of 2007. With either of these prestigious honors goes the bragging rights as best nine hole golfer for 2007.

For low net there were twenty golfers within five strokes of each other. Led by Ray Dombrowski and Bob Hartsman at net 28, spectators lined the fairways of the Lakes course and were treated to an afternoon of many highs and a few lows.

Following a tremendous effort by all who participated on a hot and muggy day:

Dick Atwater with a total score of 83 was the LOW GROSS winner and Ray Dombrowski with a net score of 59 was the LOW NET winner and PCM9GA Club Champion.

The membership was then treated to drinks and appetizers and the winners were greeted by a loud boisterous cheer from the membership. Both of these gentlemen will receive their trophy next Thursday at the Championship Buffet hosted by the PCM9GA Board. The buffet will begin immediately after the regular Thursday shot-gun golfing event at the Tuscany Falls Course. Wives and significant others are invited to this event which will be held on the Patio adjacent to the Chianti Room at the Tuscany Falls Clubhouse.
Many thanks go out to our Professional Golfing staff led by Bill Barnard and Ron Decker for their assistance and cooperation in making this event the main highlight of our 2006-2007 golfing season. Additional thanks go to Randy James and his tournament committee of Joe Boyle and Tom Richmond, for their creation of this Championship event. Our final thanks go to the late Merle Oatman for the founding of the PCM9GA Club which has grown from a few foursomes just a few short years ago to almost 100 members today.

Respectfully submitted,
GENE WHITE
PCM9GA SECRETARY
